WORKSHOP WITH RESISTENZE IN CIRENAICA

Mediated by Laura Fiorio and the Italian collective Resistenze in Cirenaica, the workshop will focus on the memories that are present in the public space. Realized in collaboration with historian Milovan Pisarri, the workshop will start with a presentation by Resistenze in Cirenaica on their practice of guerrilla onomastics in the Italian public space, to approach different methodologies linked to heritage-making processes, with a particular focus on street names, squares and monuments. The event will be both theoretical and practical, including presentations, talks, but also urban walks. The workshop is free and open for all individuals willing to listen, talk and operate together on the fine line between the public and the private spheres.

ABOUT RESISTENZE IN CIRENAICA
Resistenze in Cirenaica is a permanent cultural workshop that wants to make Bologna’s Cirenaica neighborhood, Italy, a laboratory of historical memory, unification of resistance, anti-racism, solidarity with migrants and refugees, reversal of the colonial amnesia, and antidotes to the poisons of war and terror. The project addresses the Italocentric and Eurocentric gazes with the aim to read European resistances as part of a longer cycle and place them in a planetary context, that of the anti-colonial struggle. Mariana Eugenia Califano is a restless researcher, videomaker, filmmaker, performer and activist, bringing forth a reflection on contemporaneity between history, memory, subjectivity and identity. Jadel Andreetto is a writer, philosopher and activist. Under his own name and pseudonyms, he has published novels, short stories, essays and reportage. An initiator of guerrilla odonomastics, together with Mariana E. Califano, is among the founders of Resistenze in Cirenaica.
