Artists, theorists, writers, translators, cultural workers and other art professionals are welcome to apply for a residency programme at our Belgrade studio between January and April. The residency is self-funded, flexible and self-directed: you can start a project, continue an existing one, propose a custom research and present your work to the local and international audience in Belgrade.

(CONTEXT)

The open call for a residency is aimed at artists at any stage of their careers who want to spend a period of time living and working in Belgrade, Serbia. Our Centre offers a calm place to live and work and a professional support in different areas of visual arts. Footnote Centre is an independent artist-run studio and a community centre situated in Belgrade. It is imagined as a space of encounters of different art practices with focus on visual arts, publishing, photography and text, curating, moving image as well as on different and informal educational formats and collaborations between individual art workers, artist collectives and cultural institutions.

(SPACE) 

Footnote centre is located in the historical part of Belgrade, near Slavija square. It is situated in a spacious apartment of 100 sqm, consisting of 2 private (residential) rooms, common studio with a library, kitchen, two bathrooms and a balcony.  It is fully equipped for short and long term residencies and has all the essential facilities. Residents can use any equipment available such as printers, scanners, cameras, projetors and other. The central studio can occasionally serve as a meeting place for workshops, presentations and other small-format public events.  

(COSTS and DATES) 

The residency fees:
130€ per week for the big room.
120€ per week for the small room.
The minimum stay is 2 weeks.  
Since our programme is currently running without any institutional support, we are unable to provide direct funding for the residencies. However, we can support applications for external funding options that include travel grants, living stipends, production costs etc. 

(HOW TO APPLY)

Applications are free of charge and should be made by email.
There is no application form. The email should contain a CV and a portfolio of selected projects (and optionally a research outline of the residency). The preferred dates of stay should be noted in the email. The applications should be sent to info@footnotecentre.org
