Open call for a micro-residency (2 spaces available)
Residency period: 15 September-6 October 2023
Deadline for applications: early as possible or at least a week before the start of the residency 

Artists, theorists, writers, translators, cultural workers, art professionals & enthusiasts are welcome to apply for a short-term residency at our Belgrade studio in September and October. 
The residency is short, flexible and self-directed/ you can start a project, continue an existing one, do a mini-research or get to know the art scene of Belgrade. There are no strickt expectations in terms of the residency outcomes, but artists are welcome to apply with a specific project that can be realized within a 2 week framework. We are open to proposals for 1-day presentations, talks, pop up events and other possible and impossible formats. 


CONTEXT 

The open call for a residency is aimed at artists at any stage of their careers who want to spend a period of time living and working in Belgrade, Serbia. Our Centre offers a calm place to live and work and a professional support in different areas of visual arts. Footnote Centre is an independent artist-run studio and an art publishing initiative situated in Belgrade. It is imagined as a space of encounters of different art practices with focus on visual arts, publishing, photography and text, curating, moving image as well as on different and informal educational formats and collaborations between individual art workers, artist collectives and cultural institutions.


THE SPACE 

Footnote centre is located in the historical part of Belgrade, near Slavija square. It is situated in a large salon apartment of 100 sqm, consisting of 2 private (residential) rooms, common studio with a library, kitchen, two bathrooms and a balcony.  It is covered with a fast Wi-Fi, and has all the essential facilities. 


COSTS and DATES 
The residency fee for 2 weeks is 250€. 
We will support applications for external funding such as travel grants and living stipends. 

 
HOW TO APPLY 
Applications are free of charge and should be made by email.
There is no application form. The email should contain a CV and a portfolio of selected projects (and optionally a research plan for the residency). The applications should be sent to info@footnotecentre.org
